Yealands Estate Winery is located in the Awatere Valley, Marlborough at the north-eastern tip of New Zealand’s South Island. Stretching from the foothills of the Kaikoura Ranges to undulating downs overlooking Cook Strait, Yealands Estate Winery is the single largest privately owned vineyard in New Zealand.
Yealands were aware that they were situation in an earthquake zone and built their infrastructure accordingly, employing the ONGUARD system throughout the winery. They experienced minimal damage as a result of the 2013 Marlborough earthquakes and put this down to the effectiveness of the ONGUARD system. Peter Yealands notes the benefits of having ONGUARD installed extend to assurance for insurance companies and minimizing the risk of earthquake claims, especially prevalent following the Marlborough and Canterbury quakes.
